Allergy relief
Control seasonal allergy symptoms
According to Allergy UK, around 49% of people suffer with symptoms of allergic rhinitis (ie. Hay fever), making it one of the most common allergies in the UK. Hay fever is an allergic reaction to pollen, and most people will generally suffer from symptoms more in the Spring and Summer months.
Over-the-counter treatments include anti-histamine tablets, eye drops, and nasal sprays, but for a lot of people these treatments only provide partial relief from symptoms. If these options do not help you, then the injection may be a solution. This corticosteroid is injected by intramuscular injection into the buttock.
The injection contains a corticosteroid which suppresses the immune system enough to reduce the production of histamine and take away the hay fever symptoms. It is important to note that this is not a cure for hay fever. Most patients will get relief between 48-72 hours post-injection, and its effects will last for 3-6 months, so one injection is usually enough to last for one hay fever season.
This treatment can also be useful for other allergic conditions, such as dust allergies and asthma, though 2-4 injections throughout the year will be required to maintain year-round suppression of allergy symptoms.
